PTA President Welcome Letter 2020-2021

Dear Susan B. Anthony Families,

Welcome back SBA All Stars and a great big welcome to our new SBA families. My name is Dawn Duarte, and I am your PTA President for 2020-21 school year.

Even though I know this is not how we imagined our first day of school to be, please be assured our elected PTA executive board officers and I have been busy over the summer, planning for the year and searching for ways to support our staff, students and SBA community even through these unprecedented times. Currently, we have some virtual online activities planned, but we expect to make adjustments as situations change in the future.

I know I cannot do this alone! I would like to encourage you to join our PTA. Memberships are now available through a contactless, online link or completing & returning the printed form with your payment. (Joining PTA membership does NOT mean you have to volunteer or serve as a board member.) By joining and supporting our SBA PTA, you have a voice/vote in the decisions that PTA makes. We welcome you to attend our association meetings, and the first one is scheduled for Thursday, August 20th. Our goal is to have at least one PTA member represented per child in our school. Our meetings will be virtual online. With your support, SBA PTA can provide funds for students’ reading programs, technology, Reflections programs and more.

I’m very excited to announce that SBA PTA is now registered with Amazon Smiles. Whenever you shop through Amazon Smiles, Amazon would donate 0.5% of your qualifying purchases directly to SBA PTA, at no extra cost to you. (You first have to set your supporting charitable organization to SBA PTA from your Amazon Smiles account.

In addition, please print, complete and sign the above waiver forms and drop them off in a designated box at the school office in the next couple of weeks. These waivers are required for participation in any SBA PTA sponsored activities/events during this school year and need your wet signature on them.

I would also like to address our cancelled events from last year. It will take some time to organize our lists and sign checks to families for funds that have been deposited. Please be patient with us as we are making this process as safe and easy as possible.
